Mr. Wilcox is a 7th and 8th grade science teacher. I interviewed him the other day, and I learned a lot of new things about him. He has been teaching for over 10 years. Mr. Wilcox actually does not like spiders, in fact he dislikes them even more if they are in his living space. Mr. Wilcox likes spiders if they are not close to him because he admires the artistry of their webs. Also in his words,”I do admire the artistry of their webs, and the fact that God designed them with the ability to construct complex structures with zero training.”Mr. Wilcox does not own a spider, although, there was a large garden spider outside of his glass door that he named Bob. Mr. Wilcox got to watch it grow from a small spider to a fairly big one. Sadly his pet named Gizmo ate it.
Mr. Wilcox wanted to teach science because he has been amazed by the complexity of our bodies, and how unique each animal is.
If you didn’t know, Mr. Wilcox coached girls volleyball. He likes to teach the sport because he played it in high school for 3 years and loved it. After he graduated College, he wanted to share this experience with everyone. Also how to teach them how to excel at the sport. Mr. Wilcox played volleyball for 3 years in high school at a varsity level. His position was an outside hitter. After graduation he began to play two versus two on sand and grass. He has played in a number of high level six man leagues over the course of ten years and have also played outdoor doubles at a high level during that time period. In his early twenties He excelled as a hitter due to hard work and his great jumping ability.
These are the verses that I think best describe Mr. Wilcox.
Isaiah 40:31 But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord.
