Wasting Time

By: Katie Calonje

In the dictionary, time is defined as “the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole” or “to plan, schedule, or arrange when (something) should happen or be done.” We have to deal with time every day and most of the time we waste it.

William Penn once said “Time is what we want most, but what we use worst”. As we move on with our lives, and grow older we use more time and most of us waste it. Some of us say that we have more time to do a task or job but in reality we don’t and need to spend every moment wisely or before you know it your life will begin to pass you by wasted. We should spend more time towards God and to better ourselves for His sake. I, myself, will be caught with wasting time, such as when I say “I’ll only watch one more episode” and then five more episodes pass by and its two hours later instead of doing my homework or helping my parents do chores, I wasted some of the day just being a couch potato. We need to try being more efficient with our time instead of wasting it.

In Ecclesiastes 3 it says “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” and in Ephesians 5:16-17 “Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” The more time we waste, we are just making things worse and need to use every moment of our time efficiently and in a way that pleases the Lord. With our time we should spend it loving others and helping others too the way that Jesus did.

On March 9th, all the clocks will be going back an hour and we lose an hour. We should try not waste any more time because we don’t have that much time and focus it by doing things for God. God is eternal and will always be there for us.

Remember to set your clocks an hour back on March 9th, Daylights Savings Time.
