Don’t you love the feeling your heart gets when your eyes see the changing of the weather and you smell the scent of homemade apple pie? This is why I love November, a month set aside to show our love for one another and our gratefulness to what we were given in our lives. Honestly, this is one of my favorite times of the year, besides Christmas, of course.
Just think of the time when the turkey is brought in front of the family, along with the stuffing and scallop potatoes with a cool glass of sparkling apple cider next to your plate. I am thankful that every year my family gathers together at one of my uncles’ home. It’s a nice snug little house, and just reminds me of the closeness and love we have for one another.
A tradition that we have is to go around the table and say what we are thankful for and then at the end my Mema (Grandma) says a corny joke that she remembers from way back when. It never really makes sense to us, and we all wait for her punch line, but when it comes none of us understand it but Grandma is laughing so hard we laugh along with her because that’s just what we do. We should be remembering to give thanks every single day, it’s sad that we don’t.
Thank God that he gives us this time every year to never forget who gave us the wonderful year we just had. As it says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” That even though you might be going through the toughest things, and think your breaking point, God is faithful and will help you through.
