From the age of 4, Akiane Kramrick has been able to create magnificent works of arts such as beautiful backgrounds and marvelous paintings that only a skilled artist with several years of work and training could do. She was interviewed by Katie Couric and Oprah Winfery and is internationally known. Two of her paintings that really astonished me were paintings called “Water Angel” and “Dancing against Time”.
In “Water Angel”, a water droplet splashes into the water. Within the droplet, there is a sublime figure of a woman. Power and elegance resonates from the image.
In the painting, “Dancing Against Time”, there are several candles with human beings enclosed in flames dancing almost as if there was wind blowing. The figures arise out of the flames as ballerinas. Kramick can add much more meaning to regular, ordinary things by interpreting them in a wholly unique way.
In Romans 12:2 it says “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect”
I think that as Christians we should try to view things from the perspective of Scripture and try to see ourselves as God would see us.
Jesus was a perfect example of someone who was different and stood out of the crowd since went against what people said because He was obedient to God. Akiane relates to that because through her art she offers an interpretation of God and eternity. Her art made me realize that we should try to view things differently, and to see things through God’s eyes for the better to serve Him more and to show the beauty that we can create through Him.
Editor’s note: As beautiful as art can be, as Christians we must remember the final authority about God and eternity are found in the Bible.
