He started out as an “eaglet” at Redwood elementary turned Viking, now he’s rejoined the Eagles, (and the winning team).
Now He’s working on his Eagle scout project.
Picking up on the theme here?
You may know him, his name is Daniel James. He’s a senior here at Redwood. Its is first year back from Valley, mostly because he only has one class and Redwood is closer than Valley.
Daniel’s Eagle scout project is turning an area behind Redwood Elementary’s gym into a grass area with park benches. The idea was first brought up to him by a pastor a couple years ago, and since then it’s been a ride.
First he had to draft a pitch and get a thumbs up from the Church.
Next up he had to conquer lots of paperwork. It took Daniel about a year and half to get all the paperwork and signatures done, just to start fundraising.
After the paper marathon he began to raise money, asking business and people for donations.
After all that- time to put it all together. His first work day was actually last Saturday. His team consists of some of his classmates as well as some people from Redwood Chapel’s youth group.

Daniel’s story reminds me of the constellation Aquila, because the group of stars not only looks like a bird, but Aquila is actually Latin for “Eagle.”
Those of us who were in Jog-a-thon back in the day should also remember Isaiah 40:31- “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Ladies and Gentlemen let us go and do work, and we will we will truly conquer.
