Evil tries to take over the Earth. Destruction is everywhere.
Who comes to help?
These Guardians of the Earth battle the forces of evil. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Hulk come together. Loki is trying to overthrow the world, and the Avengers get in his way. He’s trying to destroy the human race! He also sends aliens down to Earth to get rid of them, but the Avengers don’t let them get in the way.
The Avengers headquarters are located in a classified area called S.H.I.E.LD. which is a secret law-enforcement government agency that protects Earth from battles with aliens (Avengers are apart of S.H.I.E.L.D.) from other planets, and bad people all across the planet. S.H.I.E.L.D. has very interesting gadgets that you don’t see in everyday life. Who knows? Maybe these gadgets will exist in the future.
Nobody really knows about its location, but as you get into the movie, you can guess where it is. There’s Iron Man, who has his own company; Black Widow, an assassin/serial killer; Captain America, who died trying to save his wife; and The Hulk, an insane scientist who processes a great deal of emotional stress and the angrier he gets, the more green and bulky he becomes. Hawkeye is a little bit like Black Widow. He used to be a villain in the “Tales of Suspense” but after two more appearances as a villain, he becomes an Avenger. Thor, is a Norse god with a hammer as his side kick.
The movie has a bit of violence, but the story is compelling and moves along to an exciting conclusion.
C.S. Lewis once wrote, “The value of myth is that it takes all the things you know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by the veil of familiarity.” All good stories have an element of truth in them. The Avengers remind us our own struggles and victories over evil and sin, like the disciples treading upon the scorpions and snakes of an evil world. So Christians, band together to encourage each other and become unified in the Body of Christ. Take up the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Word and leave the vengeance in His hands. The battle belongs to the Lord.
