Super Teacher Miss Humphreys

photo (1)Miss Kristine Humphreys was born in San Leandro, but was raised in Castro Valley. When she was younger, she ran over her sister with her bike and broke her collarbone! Ouch!

She dedicated her life to Christ at age 5, then again at age 16 after almost losing her mother. She loves to sing and is in the choir and on the worship team at her church.

She loves RCS so much that she has been teaching for 8 years, and currently teaches 8th grade Girls’ Bible Study and middle-school math. When she was a student here at Redwood Mr. Edington, Mr. Gillette, Mr. Huemoeller, Mr. Castaneda, Mr. McDaniel, Mr. Bakker, and Mr. Kady (who is now the elementary principal) were all her teachers. She has known Mr. Enns the longest as he was her 5th grade teacher.

Something most people don’t know about her is that she rode horses bareback in Idaho. She loves riding ATVs in the mountains at her cabin and would love to live in Idaho someday again. Her favorite pastimes are singing, reading, watching movies, taking pictures for Redwood, and just being with her friends and family. Her favorite candy is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, unless it’s from See’s Candies. Then it’s Milk Chocolate Butter. She likes to eat at Chipotle and Texas Roadhouse, and her favorite food is steak.

She twirled baton for 16 years, competing at Nationals every year. At the end of her career she even tried out for the World team. Even though her team didn’t make the cut they had the honor of going to the World Championships to present the medals.

In 1 Corinthians 12:29 it says, “ And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues.” I believe that this verse is proven through what Miss Humphreys is doing at RCS right now, with her gifts of teaching and enlightening children, who are the world’s next generation!
